AI assistants

Ask an AI assistant about your bills

Connect Invoist to the assistant you already use. Then ask it, in your own words, what you still have to pay, what a bill said, or which invoices need checking.

What you can ask

At home

What do we still have to pay this month?

Lists the unpaid bills with the soonest due first, and what they add up to.

What's the reference number for the water bill?

Reads back who to pay, the account, the reference and the due date.

Did the electricity bill go up?

Compares this month's bills with the twelve months before.

At work

Which invoices need checking?

Lists the invoices Invoist held for you, and why each one was held.

The Acme one is fine, take it off the list.

Marks that invoice as checked, then tells you what it changed.

How much was the last Northline invoice?

Finds the invoice and reads back its total, dates and lines.

What the assistant can and can't do

It mostly just looks

At home, the assistant reads your bills. It can mark a bill as paid only if you allow that when you connect it. For a business, 6 of its 7 tools only read; the other takes an invoice off your list of invoices to check.

It can't delete, upload or pay

Deleting, uploading and approving senders stay in the Invoist app. Invoist never moves money.

You approve it, and can cut it off

The assistant asks to connect, and you approve it on an Invoist page. Disconnect it in Settings, then AI assistants, and it loses access at once.

Your chat stays with the assistant

Invoist sees what the assistant asked it for, not what you wrote in the chat.

The details, permission by permission, are in Permissions and safety. Every tool is listed in Tools.

How it works

Assistants connect to other services through MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard for giving an assistant tools it can use. Invoist runs one MCP server at the address below. When you ask a question, the assistant picks the Invoist tool that answers it, and Invoist replies with data from your account only.

Invoist MCP server
https://api.invoi.st/mcp

You don't make a key or copy a password. You add the address above in your assistant, and it opens an Invoist page where you sign in and approve it. It then sees only the household or workspace you approved it for: with Invoist Personal, your household's bills (6 tools); with a business plan, that one workspace's invoices (7 tools).

Ready to connect?

Pick your assistant on Connect your assistant. It takes about two minutes.

For developers

Transport is Streamable HTTP. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1: the server answers an unauthenticated request with a WWW-Authenticate header pointing at its protected-resource metadata, clients register themselves (dynamic client registration), and PKCE is required. Clients that can't sign in can send an API key as a bearer token in the Authorization header instead. Every tool carries MCP annotations (read-only, idempotent, destructive), so clients that respect them can ask before a write. Everything the tools can see is also on the REST API.
